00:00:22: I'm living in Wales I was born in England lived in Wales for some time now so I'm on the west coast of the UK like Rachael hi Jamie and welcome to the podcast.

00:00:33: So you have the honour to translate some of lobinas works I think.

00:00:41: I'm absolutely thrilled to be asked I love Raveena stories and she had shown me some once or twice in the past.

00:00:49: And I was thrilled to be asked to translate and I'm having such fun with the stories you send me them in German and then a computer

00:00:59: generated chunky English which is very amusing,

00:01:09: Allerton but it's very playful process to really bring it into I hope I'm all English English

00:01:17: and I love the story so thank you so much for asking me for Mewtwo it's a new step with this help of the computer

00:01:25: programs which are making a kind of translation and to have some base for it

00:01:31: no indeed I think I would have been too daunted if you'd said just really translate I having the starting point.

00:01:37: It's fascinating it's as I said it's a play for,

00:01:41: process which makes me think of the clown in training where we met which you mentioned in your first podcast this is being still in present yet having this playfulness of what's going to happen feel like that with the story.

00:01:55: Gradually some words of BA some phrases appears and then I read it again and it's not sound right it'll be something like the word order or it makes me think a lot about the diff between the German and English.

00:02:09: What does it make makes a sentence sound really English,

00:02:13: what brings his characters to life is lovely different characters sometimes I look at the English calendar have to look at the German and it will not where did you been actually use.

00:02:23: To get that quality I'm really enjoying playing with it thank you.

00:02:27: Yes because I think there's a real art translation isn't there because it's not just about translating words it's about an interpretation as well.

00:02:36: Yes that they're writing I do is writing poetry which is very very particular process of getting that word you want so maybe that helps and someone has been my mentor doing that dance and poetry translation.

00:02:50: I've seen some poems quite well known ones that needs translated but they come out different because he really spend time on getting the right ceiling and that has been an inspiration as well.

00:03:01: The most difficult thing actually is knowing when to stop.

00:03:17: I'll try to send things out on my partner and he enjoys playing between we live in Wales and he's been studying well so.

00:03:25: I'm looking at languages is it our life at the moment but it's really timely and how to be playing the language and he'll make a comment if I need someone.

00:03:35: The interesting is when you when you work with languages because me and my husband we do it too with Shrek languages you are never boring.

00:03:45: The life's always interesting because you always can think about a girl's or a phrase or idiom.

00:03:51: Yes and how it gets a different colour in each language.

00:03:56: I never forget a little anecdote about that when a while ago I haven't continued it was a point in my life where I was studying Spanish I had this wonderful dictionary which gave say.

00:04:47: I've I learnt a lot and a lot of German when I was younger and spend some time I have apparently I have a terrible southern accent because we lived in Switzerland for a while because of my work,

00:04:57: so I can do such as speak to do which isn't really high German at all at school and learn some Spanish I didn't get very far enough.

00:05:10: And then we moved to Wales in the early 2011 Welsh which I've actually stopped going to classes for but my partner's really studying it,

00:05:20: we talk a lot about different languages.

00:05:23: The only trouble is as you get older you don't remember them as well and getting muddled up in my head so I've got try to say something in German or Welsh I usually get a bit of the other language coming into our brains only have one box marked language

00:05:38: sometimes more than one comes out,

00:05:41: but it must have been a big thing for you to love being a big thing to change the storage from The Originals or into German that's already one step in.

00:05:50: Yeah it is interchange to stories because the Germans much more full of structure or you in German you better see where you have luggage mistakes in the story,

00:09:35: Is it is it alright if they just one language what do you think is all languages important for the

00:09:43: development as a great question and when I think that is much debated around the place I don't have children myself so I can't speak as a mother only as a devoted aunt and 4th round here what's people doing Welsh and,

00:09:57: English I think.

00:10:02: I think it's wonderful to for children to develop more and develop the brain and develop more language it doesn't work for everybody some people find it too much.

00:10:14: It's more communication isn't it and more making people's brains different ways I can't see how it can be.

00:10:22: I have it can detract really I think it's great for children to Ranmoor languages and communicate report people the blanket real won't work for every child of course.

00:10:31: I feel it that every language tried Talk is like a colour so when you have more languages you look with different colours to the world.

00:10:47: I'm terrible I don't speak other languages I mean my children do speak

00:10:54: one of my daughter's is studying Spanish at the moment and she speaks pretty much fluent Spanish and French and my other daughter speaks French and Italian

00:11:06: think I did that I grew up with a lot of Music and musical family and nothing doing languages kind of spread out of that.

00:11:13: Good at school with music and languages.

00:11:19: That's a nice when you have got the audiobooks you combine it with music.

00:11:26: Yeah into playing instruments lubina,

00:11:30: oh yes I do with a try that had for years to play the flute from the one in different b1024 started to play guitar.

00:11:44: Classical guitar

00:11:48: I think when the lockdown team I brought a little guitar she's calculate do you think music or instruments are also a sort of language,

00:12:05: in like different languages different ways to express yourself definitely definitely.

00:12:19: what is your relationship to animals and need to ask it because the first service animals of course

00:12:27: yeah well I love I don't have any actual animals around me we did have a cat for a long time but we don't anymore I got with dogs and cats.

00:12:36: I'm out here you know the sheep in the fields of friends who are horses and I see

00:12:41: animals around the place I'm not actually responsible for any at this point in my life I have a soft spot for the soft toy animals as well different characters.

00:12:55: Love animals and which is your favourite in the stories here,

00:13:03: who do you like that's difficult I don't know I'm thought of a favourite really like all in all the different characters that come along with their characters build as he read more stories you get more character,

00:13:16: I tell you who made me laugh I got cancerous I was brilliant
